Odds & Ends – September 2014

Congratulations to Wayne Stevens – Pride of NZ Award

Wayne Stevens has been a long-time member of WTMC and NZ Land Search and Research  (LandSAR). He was recently nominated for the Pride of NZ Awards which ‘…recognise individuals who make extraordinary personal sacrifices for the benefit of their community. Those extraordinary Kiwis who go above and beyond to help, save and care for others and their environment.’ Wayne was the regional winner in the Emergency Services section for the lower North Island. Thank you Wayne for all that you do!

Masterchef – TTC Style

The Tararua Tramping Club (TTC) recently held their own MasterChef Contest which challenges competitors to prepare a meal that could be cooked and eaten on a tramping club trip. One of the specific rules is that the chefs ‘will have half an hour to prepare a dish using authentic outdoor cooking appliances and equipment.’ No microwaves allowed! Recipes have been published on the TTC website including favourites such as mulled wine, fruit crumble and icecream cake (it would appear there are also a few mains).
