      Hi all,

I am due to lead my very first club trip on the weekend of Friday 13th June and i am looking at amending what is down on the current schedule. I was thinking of going to Otaki Forks on friday night and staying at Parawai Lodge if the weather is wet or heading to Field Hut if not and my punters are OK with tramping in the dark. Saturday would be up to Kime Hut, drop the packs and head up to Mt. Hector and then back to Kime for the night. Sunday back down to Otaki Forks and home. Remembering that it is winter, is this a suitable trip for a Medium tramp? Any other possible suggestions/routing would be welcome as i want my first trip to go well and i attended the Leadership course last weekend.

      Cheers.

      Hi Gareth,

The trip you propose is a fairly standard medium trip for this time of the year. You shouldn’t run into any problems. Keep in mind that Kime does not have any form of heating so you may end up “wearing” your sleeping bag on Saturday night.
