Just a quick reminder that AIC and Snowcraft 2007 will be getting underway next month.

If you want to do either of these courses you need to come to club, read the relevant material and fill out an application form and sign up. I’ll be removing the sign up sheets on May 30. If you have applied to be on the courses you can expect to hear from me shortly thereafter.

Places are limited, particularly for AIC. We will be giving preference to club members who have filled out the appication form, signed up on the course sheet and paid their $100 deposit (this must be paid by 13 June). Having said that we will also take into account candidate fitness, tramping/alpine experience and commitment to doing alpine trips with the club. The main reason fitness may be an issue is that most trips the club runs that require alpine skills also require at least a medium level of fitness. Unlike some places overseas getting to our mountains generally requires a fair bet of leg work.
