Club nights

Wednesday social club nights are cancelled until further notice.

Gear – The gear room is closed. If you have any WTMC gear to return please fill out this form to let us know what you have. This will help us keep track of who has what. We will be in touch when the gear room re-opens.

AGM – We are working on alternative arrangements for the AGM on April 1st and these will be published on the WTMC website and Facebook page.

Club trips

Club trips are cancelled until further notice. At Alert Level 2 and above non-essential domestic travel is advised against – our trips involve non-essential travel.

We will provide refunds to anyone who has already paid for a trip. Your trip leader will be in touch to arrange these.

Keep an eye on the WTMC website and Facebook page for updates.

Other tramping trips

While New Zealand is at Level 4 on the COVID-19 Alert System we are being instructed to stay at home, taking only local walks alone or with those we are self-isolating with. This means not going tramping.

Remote backcountry huts are now closed. Further information can be found on the DoC website.

The Lodge at Ruapehu

The WTMC Lodge is closed until further notice. We’ve contacted every one who was booked in. Keep an eye on the WTMC website and Facebook page for updates.

Paua Hut in the Remutaka Forest Park

Our hut in the Remutaka Forest Park is closed as of 23/03/2020 until further notice. We are not taking new bookings at this stage.

We will offer refunds for anyone who has paid for an upcoming booking. If this is the case please contact us.

Other club-related activities or volunteer tasks

Lodge subcommittee monthly meetings are cancelled until further notice.

If you are involved in other club activities or volunteer tasks that you aren’t able or comfortable doing, that is OK – please let us know so we can make alternative arrangements as necessary.

Looking after your well-being
For many of us, WTMC is an important part of our social lives and getting into the outdoors helps maintain our mental and physical well-being. We encourage people to use the WTMC Facebook group to connect online.
