Entries are being accepted now through 30 September.

2014-2016 Hillary Expeditions grant applications now being accepted

Every two years Sport New Zealand runs the Hillary Expeditions, part-funding teams of adventurers to take on world-class outdoor challenges in New Zealand and around the globe. Previous expeditions have involved teams of trampers, mountaineers, rock climbers, cross-country skiers, kayakers, mountain bikers, sailors and others. They have $100,000 to distribute to a range of expeditions every two years. Applications close 2 October 2014.

FMC Youth Scholarships Available

The FMC Forest and Mountain Trust and the Marewhenua Trust have been awarding youth scholarships for outdoor expeditions since 2010. Trips undertaken include several to New Zealand’s wildest places, the Adams and Olivine Wilderness Areas to name two. In 2014, it was decided to focus on the Expedition Scholarships, with an increased prize pool. There will be two rounds of Expedition Scholarships on offer in 2014 (April and September). In each round two awards are available with a maximum grant of $1,000. The scheme is open to members of affiliated or associated clubs of FMC, and also to individual supporters of FMC. The Scholarship includes provision for younger trampers to be accompanied by older trampers in a mentoring role. Application deadline is 12 September 2014.
