Mountain House working bee – Volunteers needed

WTMC built the Mountain House Shelter some years ago [2000?] and now it needs some TLC. A Club working bee is planned for 13-14 December. Tasks include rat-proofing the roof, cleaning and re-securing the water tank, re-locating the long drop, touch up painting and general cleaning. Volunteers are more than welcome with for the weekend or a day. To register your interest email Andrew McLellan.

North Island Opportunities to Improve your Rock Climbing

The 2015 NZ Alpine Club (NZAC) National Climbing Camp will be held at Tukino Lodge on Mt. Ruapehu 2-9 January, jointly hosted by the north island Alpine Club sections and the Tukino Alpine Sports Club (TASC). The camp is an opportunity for climbers to get together to climb mountains, rocks, socialise, explore and enjoy the great outdoors. Some people will choose to use the camp as a base for day walks while others will venture into the surrounding mountains or further afield (e.g. Whanganui Bay, Tongariro Crossing) for multi-day adventures.

The renovated TASC lodge will be a fantastic base for the camp with many bunk rooms, two big common rooms and superb views. Non climbing family members are welcome as well as members of overseas alpine clubs. Free accommodation for volunteers to help in the lodge during the camp. Contact: .
