A day or two in the Garvies

Fly to Invercargill, drive to Piano Flat and camp in the rain. Wake the next morning to a brilliant starry sky and no wind.

Drop down through the snow grass to Titan Hut. This private renovated musterers’ hut is cool – one of the few tramping huts that has carpet.

Next morning decide not to climb back to the ridge but instead take a more direct route back down to Piano Flat.

Drive to Peter’s house and check out the new spa pool. Meal in town and early to sleep ready for a 6:00 am flight back to Welly Monday morning to arrive in time for work.

A rather nice weekend actually.
