Ruapehu Rumblings – May 2016

New lift at Whakapapa
The new quad express lift takes shape – this is the top station at Hut Flat.

We’re getting excited about the 2016 Whakapapa snow season.  The Ruapehu crew have secured a licence renewal with DOC, and so a flood of money is set to hit the Whakapapa facilities.  This means a new quad express lift to replace the Centennial Chair this year, and a quad chairlift to replace the Waterfall T-bar in 2017.  Good things are coming to Whakapapa!

Book your spot for the 2016 snow season

It’s the time of the year when Ruapehu Lodge bookings for members open on 1 May for the whole season.  Bookings opening 1 June for non-members for the whole season. This allows everyone to plan ahead, and for members to get in early for the most popular weekends and school weeks.

You can book via the booking system using your credit card. I suggest you get in early as periods like the school holidays fill up quickly. If you find that there are spaces unavailable for your required weekend and you are unable to move this please contact me or make an enquiry through the booking system and we will see what can be done to make spaces available. The exception to this is the weeks marked ‘booked’ on the attached sheet – these are fully booked to private groups.

Working Party 21-22 May

We are running a ‘working party’ weekend on 21-22 May, to get the Lodge shipshape and stocked for the winter.  This generally involves some carrying and sprucing-up on the Saturday, and plenty of time afterwards to tell tall stories with the old hands of the Lodge, or take the opportunity to do your own daywalks (Summit or Crossing, anyone?) on the Sunday.  It’ll be free to stay, too!  Give Mike a yell at for more info.

Any questions?  Check the website or just ask Eric!

If you have any questions regarding booking the lodge or anything else to do with the lodge this season, please check out the info at https://www.wtmc.org.nz/ruapehu-lodge or contact Eric, the lodge booking guy, at  .

We’ll see you up there soon!!
