People may be interested in this story on Stuff about access problems through Kawakawa Station in the Haurangis:

The last time I went to the Haurangis one of the club trips was denied permission to go in up Kawakawa Stream. Not being able to up and down the streams seriously limits tramping opportunities in the Haurangis, so hopefully this can be resolved with a favourable outcome. It seems pretty outrageous that a rich overseas landowner is defying a requirement to allow tramper access through his property to Kawakawa Hut which was apparently a condition of the land sale.
