Summer lodge has finished with a successful three weeks again hosted by Murray.
A considerable number of people stayed at the lodge over this period which is encouraging, and a good indicator to continue hosting this again next Christmas and New Year onwards. For a sample of what Sarah was up to on one of her seven days at the lodge go to her Hauhungatahi story.
We have been in a relatively calm period Covid-wise, and people have been more confident to get out and about, however, we still face an uncertain period during the next few months if overseas indicators are anything to go by.
The lodge is still available for use by members and their friends. The only condition being that you need a trained lodge operator to be present for your stay. Bookings can be done using the booking system, but you will need to check with first.
At this stage we will be holding two working parties at the lodge this summer/ autumn. Although there is uncertainty due to the covid situation we can continue to plan for these weekends and postpone them if necessary.
- 4th to the 6th of March.
- 1st to 3rd of April.
These are for replacing the fibre cement sheets around the perimeter base of the lodge which are showing signs of cracking and breaking up. One weekend will be for carrying up materials and the other weekend will be for removing materials and other accumulated rubbish under the lodge. There will be other smaller tasks that will also need to be done.
We also like to slip in a part day walk if there is time available and keen participants.
Anyone interested in helping can contact me or email . I can then update you with details as they emerge.
Talking of helping, there is always a need for helpers on the lodge committee. Heather has left the fold as secretary, and we are very thankful for the work that she has done. There is a vacancy for anyone who would like to be involved with the lodge organizing.
There has also been a change with the booking team with Andy retiring after four years.
AJ has taken his place with the support of Baz and Paul. Thanks to them for stepping up to assist.
