Yes OK – but Thoreau would likely have swapped his clunky canoe for a lightweight portable packraft if they had been around in his time.
And if you do have a packraft and want to ensure a sensible work/ life balance then why not take a calm sunny day off work and paddle down the Hutt River from Kaitoke Regional Park to Petone? The paddling distance is 34 km and with the river at 35 cumecs after recent rain, and including both the Maoribank rapids and the weir at Trentham, it’s a fun day out.
