Nominations for the Committee

Nominations received so far for Club Officers:
Role | People Nominated | Information they provided |
President | Daniel Madley (nominated by Anne de Ferron) | I’ve been a club member for over six years, met my wife through the Club and have been the Treasurer for the past two years. I spend a lot of my time tramping and trail running, and appreciate how the club fosters a supportive environment to meet new people and have new adventures. I’m looking forward to building on work done over the past several years to make the club operate more smoothly and continue to build for the future so we can be the best club possible, by members for members. Outside of the club I have been the Treasurer of Youthline Wellington for two years and have had (and continue to have) professional governance development through the Institute of Directors. |
Vice President | Andrew Brown (nominated by Sara Harrison) | I’ve been a club member since 2023, and prior to that when I was at school and university. I have been Vice President since 2024, and Acting President for the past year. When I joined the club I wanted to help out where I could in the governance space, and am a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors. I also chair a board in the intellectual disability space called Hohepa Wellington. In the outdoors, I am really keen on backcountry skiing so have a real interest in Ruapehu Lodge and Tongariro National Park more broadly. Operating the club efficiently and effectively is really important because it means the member experience is enhanced and the request on our volunteers’ time is minimised. I come from a place where I believe that successive cohorts of committee members since 1947 have made the club what it is today. The Committee’s job today is to build on that work, in line with our core purpose of encouraging and enabling tramping, mountaineering, and skiing. |
Treasurer | Ellis Pike (nominated by Daniel Madley | Kia ora all, I’m Ellis and I’m putting my hand up to be the club Treasurer this year. While I only joined the club in September 2024, I have already been on a number of trips, including leading my first one in February! I’m keen to be involved and help out in the club and I want to ensure that we can continue to provide great trips and opportunities to members. Treasurer is a role that I will be capable of filling as I have a background in accounting and law, having studied both at university. I also operated most of the finance functions of a small law firm when I was a clerk. I now work as a consultant and while day to day I don’t perform any accounting services, I regularly interact with budgets and finances. I look forward to meeting more of you through trips and social events this year |
Secretary | Megan Madley (nominated by Monique Bon) | I’ve been a club member since 2019, met my husband on a club trip, and have been the Secretary for the club since September last year. In my spare time, I enjoy getting outdoors, either through short day walks, trail runs or multi day expeditions exploring different parts of New Zealand. In my short time on the Committee I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to get a better understanding of the clubs inner workings as well as being involved in making the club run more smoothly. I am committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members and believe that my proactive approach and attention to detail will help enhance our club’s processes. I am excited about the opportunity to serve on the Committee and contribute to the continued success of the club for our members. |
Chief Guide | Sara Harrison (nominated by Emily Shrosbree) | Although I’ve only been a member of the club for a few years, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reigniting my passion for tramping alongside like-minded members and leading a number of trips over the past year. I also love spending time outdoors mountain-biking and skiing. Since stepping into the Chief Guide role six months ago, I’ve valued supporting the club and its activities and would like to continue efforts to help make the club even better for all members. With a background in the Army and as a consultant working predominantly in the public sector, I bring strong adaptability and continuous improvement skills to this role. Looking ahead, I’m committed to maintaining high standards of bush craft and leadership across the club, enhancing our trip offerings and addressing feedback from our recent survey – particularly around streamlining trip sign-up processes and creating more developmental opportunities to encourage greater participation. I’d be honoured to continue leading the Chief Guide team and working alongside fellow Committee members to further strengthen the club’s success. |
Ruapehu Lodge Convenor | Miles Davison (nominated by Andrew Brown) | Awaiting information – Miles is out tramping! |
Liaison Officer |
