Learning to SK: the Tararua’s most infamous traverse | WTMC Club night
Wed 4 Jun @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Completing a traverse of the Tararua mountain range within a weekend was a challenge first dreamed up by members of our local tramping clubs in the early 1960s. Known as the SK for the roadends Schormann (no longer accessible) to Kaitoke via the main range. For decades among trampers, the challenge remained to complete the traverse in under 48 hours. But it wasn’t long before a new challenge became increasingly popular among trail runners, to complete the traverse in under 24 hours. WTMC members Megan Sety and Stuart Meiklejohn will talk about the history of the SK and what to think about if you want to take on the weekend tramping challenge or the 24 running challenge.
Doors open 6:30pm, talk beginning at 7:00pm.
