WTMC Bushcraft 2023

The bushcraft course is an introduction to tramping in NZ.
Who Can Enrol
Our course is run on an ad-hoc basis for the benefit of our members or potential members ONLY. (We are not a commercial provider for the general public.)
If you are, or would like to be involved with the WTMC and are interested in refreshing or gaining some basic tramping and bushcraft skills, then this course is for you!
The course is suitable for those with basic levels of walking fitness carrying a 10-15kg pack.
Course Structure
The course covers:
- clothing and equipment
- shelters
- food
- weather
- basic navigation
- river and water safety
- emergency procedures
- hazards
- tramping skills
- WTMC trip protocols.
Delivery
The course is run over a weekend based at Paua hut in the Rimutaka Forest Park.
You’ll be participating in lots of fun, practical activities, staying overnight in the bush, with the choice of sleeping in the hut or under a tarp. It involves 2-3 hours tramping each day.
The course is run by experienced Club members.

Cost
Approximately $65 per person, covers transport from Wellington and includes a Mountain Safety Council bushcraft manual.
