WTMC Talks: Feeding the people who feed the Kakapos – Being a volunteer chef on Codfish Island

FREEPlease join us Wednesday 27 May at 7.30pm for the third of our virtual club talks, “Feeding the people who feed the Kakapos – Being a volunteer chef on Codfish Island” with Katja Riedel.
Katja has worked as a volunteer chef on Codfish Island on three different occassions. This tiny island off the coast of Stewart Island is home to the biggest breeding population of Kakapos, charismatic, endangered, nocturnal flightless parrots. Hear more about the efforts of the DOC Kakapo recovery program, what it is like to live and work on the island and how to cook for up to 20 people with various diets.
You can attend the talk remotely via ‘Google hangouts’. This means you can join from your computer, your smart phone, or even from your less smart phone. Computer or smartphone are best. Instructions for how to join the talk are set out below.

How the talk will work:
- Please mute your microphone when you join the call. Our Social Convenor Byron will introduce the talk and describe how the talk will run.
- If you would like to speak during the talk itself, you can use the chat function (you can see this by clicking the chat icon on the top right hand screen) or Katja or Byron may invite you to unmute and speak.
If you are having trouble joining try the following:
