Just been there – and epic in high winds!
      Adding to Richards coments:
The mattresses at Andersons are uncovered foam and look quite grotty. There are nice covered ones in Maungahuka (as well as some old foam ones), but one of the bunks is broken.

Proably best to speak to local DoC. I never worry about matresses as always carry one just in case.
Kime no cooker. Water tank. Sleeping platform some mattresses.
Maungahuka potbelly cooker has either been removed or is otherwise on its last legs. No firewood nearby in either case. Wire frame bunks with mattresses. Water tank.
Havent made it to Andersons yet.

Cooker is gone at Maungahuka – good mattersses though (6 bunks),, good watertank, not so good tarn
Cooker is a bit ratty at Andersons, plenty of wood though, again 6 bunks and mattresses and a good water tank
Kime has no cooker about 3 mattresses and a water tank.
Also water between Maungahuka and Andersons from Aokap Biv.
Info on all Tararua Huts and Bivs can be found at http://www.vuwtc.org.nz – click on the Tararua Hut Info link – it has photos of all and a listing of water/mattresses/location/camping/heating/cost

Only other advice would be that is sensible to be self-sufficient for shelter and food.( Water not a problem unless it is frozen),
It is not unusual to find hutts full – even in winter.
      Shane :-),

: Brief summary please on current status on mattresses (number),, water supplies, stoves, at the huts would be appreciated.
