To those trampers interested in trails near Hanmer Springs,
The area around Hanmer Springs offers spectacular tramping opportunities, including relatively easy multi-days (eg St James), off-piste routes on the tops, through-hikes connecting with the Nelson Lakes or Lake Sumner, and a myriad of peaks, alpine tarns, forests and tussockland to explore. There are, however, few existing services to support trampers hoping to enjoy this part of NZ.
We offer small groups (up to 4 people) an affordable, flexible and comprehensive service connecting Christchurch, Hanmer and various local trailheads. This includes shuttle services from Christchurch Airport to Hanmer, Lewis Pass and the Clarence Valley and, if required, comfortable self-contained accommodation in the heart of Hanmer Springs.
Services include:
Hanmer Springs → Lewis Pass trailheads (inc. Windy Point, Boyle Village, St James, Nina Valley, Doubtful Valley) – $100 totalHanmer Springs → Clarence Valley trailheads (inc. Lake Tennyson, Malings Pass car park) – $100 total
Christchurch (Airport or central) → Hanmer Springs (option to stop at Amberley Countdown for supplies) – $140 total
Christchurch (Airport or central) → Lewis Pass or Clarence Valley trailheads (option to stop at Amberley Countdown for supplies) – $220 total
Accommodation:
Our peaceful yet centrally located house is nestled among trees adjacent to the Hanmer Forest Reserve. The house is private and quiet, and just a couple of minutes on weary legs to the hot pools and village centre. You can enjoy the entire house, which has two double beds and multiple singles, a log burner and full kitchen facilities.Weeknights – $120 per night
Fri/ Sat nights – $140 per nightIf you would like more information on the above, other shuttle options, or a copy of our brochure, please let me know your details and I will be in touch.
Happy hiking,
Will
