Does anyone have any route information concerning getting to Johnson Hut from Mokihinui Forks via the Hemphill river up to Marina/Phyllis lakes and then over Johnson Ridge?

I understand that it can be done and may be preferable to travel via the Mokihinui River North Branch. It would be nice to know the best route out of the Hemphill and over the ridge however: the only mention of this route I can find suggests that a fondness for subalpine scrub is required – which sounds ominous 🙂
