There has been much recent comment about the land access issue in the Kaimanawas. A large piece of land is privately owned and access is limited (and costs $30pp!),. This causes many problems for groups doing longer trips including the classic Kaweka/Kaimanawa traverse.
I have discussed with DoC in Turangi today. They have some old park maps (now out of print), which they have marked up with the boundaries. I have ordered one and hope to have it along at club meetings.
Please note the club trips to the Kaimanawas on 17-19 May have been planned so they do not enter the private land.
If you do want to enter the private land, information can be found on the Air Charter Taupo website.
