Hi – some news from DoC re South Ohau hut and some other Tararua huts

Important Notice to Visitors

Hut Closure Update

South Ohau Hut (at Grid Reference, S25, 119515)

Land subsidence adjacent to South Ohau Hut has put the hut at risk.
The hut has been closed and the will be removed during March 2003.
For information on alternative huts in the area contact the Kapiti Area Office.

Waiopehu Hut (at Grid Reference, S25, 090506)

Waiopehu Hut will be closed from 7am on Saturday 8th March to 4pm on Monday 10th March 2003 to allow the Levin Waiopehu Tramping Club to carry out re-oiling of the floor surfaces.

Hut Painting and Construction Work

At some time during the period from now until 31st March 2003 the following huts will be undergoing external painting and minor construction work:

Kime (at Grid Reference, S26, 013268)
Te Matawai (at Grid Reference, S25, 125494)
