Please have your say – Wellington Conservation Management Strategy (CMS) is out for consultation – submission due 4 April.
This is a 10-year document that puts general policies into practice for the places and resources the Department of Conservation manages. That covers everything that we love about tramping.

Hopefully you will be able to see if anything grabs you and let us know what it is. Then we can add it to our club submission.
Areas/Issues that the CMS covers:
- Rights to Paua hut
- Access issues to forest parks
- Maintenance of back country infrastructure
- Climbing areas (fixed anchors) none were identified in cms area… Is this true?
- Potential Mt biking opportunities (there are not many listed)
- Access numbers to kapiti island
- Control of pest plants and animals
- Protection of native fauna and flora
- Number of aircraft landings
- And many many more things…..
