Summer’s in full swing and the snowboard, skis and crampons are buried somewhere in the back of the loft. But the Lodge remains the place to go to enjoy everything Tongariro National Park has to offer.
We had a great Open Lodge this year – the lodge was open for casual drop-ins from 26 December through to 12 January. Over 60 people passed through to tramp, climb, mountain bike or just break the journey, get some peace from the holiday crush and watch the sunsets over Mt Taranaki.
There are lots of opportunities to get yourself up to the Lodge in the next month or two:
- Amelia’s hosting a family friendly weekend over the Waitangi long weekend. There’s a few places still available at time of writing – book yourself in on the Lodge Booking System, and you don’t need a family to enjoy the lodge that weekend!
- There’s the soon-to-be-famous Lodge Social Weekend on March 6-8. It’s filling really quickly so sign-up at the club rooms on Wednesday night, contact Gareth at or Beccy at . More details.
to find out more and secure your place. - The lodge will probably be open over Easter. What better place for an easter egg hunt? Give Eric a yell on for more info of what’s happening.
- The Lodge could well be open for any weekend or weekday you fancy. Again, contact Eric on and he’ll sort things for you. He’s good like that!
Book yourself in for your weekend away while the weather is great, the trout are biting and the tramping, mountain biking, cycle touring and hot pool soaking is all at its best. I can vouch for the burgers at the Tussock Pub at the bottom of the hill, too!
