Very short notice but I thought this might interest WTMC members.
Mt Ruapehu Backcountry Guides, in conjunction with the Mountain Safety council, are running an four day backcountry avalanche course course starting on Tuesday the 28th June for which we still have several places available.
The course is not running on consectutive days, which may make it difficult to attend but contact us for information, as we will be running other courses over the winter months.
The course will be run predominately at Turoa ski area, with a planned field day on the Tongariro crossing. The course consists of lectures and field days.
The cost is $650.00

All travel will be on foot (with chairlift access as required) and participants will need to have experience with basic crampon and ice axe skills, solid outdoor skills and boots and clothing suitable for the alpine environment. An axe, crampons, avalanche beacon, probe and Shovel are required. These can be provided free of charge for the course duration on payment of a deposit.
