Hi all,
Steve Austin will be running a Driver Training session on either 27th or 28th June which will be limited to 6 people. These sessions are designed to help familiarise yourselves with the operation of the vans in a more relaxed environment than that of a Friday night departure. The club wants its drivers to be confident with the operation of a 12 seater minivan and is aware that most people do not drive this size of vehicle on a regular basis. You will have the opportunity to drive one of the vans and Steve will advise you on safe driving techniques, the use of the Fleetcard, snow chains and the individual quirks of the vans.
The current plan is to depart at approx 9am from Platform 9 at the train station and drive to the Seaview/Eastbourne/Wainui area where drivers can get used to the vans operation. This will be on either 27th or 28th June depending upon what date is most preferred by those wishing to take part. If you are interested please email with which date is preferable.
I would encourage anyone who has volunteered to drive a club van to take part in this as it will increase your driving confidence and therefore the safety of the passengers, and you will be aware of what is expected in this role.
If you wish to take part and have not yet completed the Driver Vetting Form please do so – it can be found on the club website under Downloads – Forms. Please give this form to me with a photocopy of your current valid Drivers Licence.
