The end of year BBQ is scheduled for the 11th Dec.
– it is at the Catchpool area in the Rimutakas/Orongos (near start of the 5 mile/Orongo track).
– there are 3 day walks into the area with the intention that they all finish up at the picnic/bbq, sign up at club or call the leaders.
– Walks are EM cattle ridge/orongo track with Michael Lightbourne, M Sunny Grove/Mt McKerrow/Catchpool with wendy Abbott, ant Sunny Grove/East Whakanui/Orongo track with Andrew McLellan).
– BYO food & drinks.
– start time approx lunch time onwards.
– finish time – up to individuals, gates close at 8:30 pm.
– overnight camp is optional if people want to, current charges are $5 per adult & $3 per child in the designated camping area.
– the plan is to take the bus to drop off day walkers (they can leave food etc in chilly bins on the bus during the day).
– the plan is that the bus will be comming back to wgtn the same evening.
– there are BBQs there & we can also bring along the club BBQ, the ones there operate with a $1 coin.
– there is no trip list for the BBQ just come along, all are invited – bring along families etc…

Further to the above, if you’re intending to come to the BBQ only, you could find that there may not be many or any people there until the day trips have finished. So the start suggested above of “lunch time” may be a bit inacurate. Best guess as to the finish times of the day trips will be 2.00 to 3.00pm.

The actual location for the BBQ will be somewhere fairly close to the car park at end of the road, and should be easily spotted. We may have a flag or banner of some sort marking the spot.
