      SOUTHERN FACES

You’re climbing 200 meters above the valley floor, clipped into nothing but
a flimsy piece of metal, wishing there was more than just a rope and a
partner between you and the ground. The wind grazes your back, and your
hands are getting sweaty, slippery. Your heart is hammering in your chest
and your stomach abandons you, leaving behind a sinking emptiness. Vertigo
encroaches. You turn around looking for some comfort, but all you find is a
camera in your face. Chances are you’ve just run into the Southern Faces
      film crew…….

      Hi all,

The much-anticipated premiere of Southern Faces has finally arrived! We will
be premiering in Wellington on the 16th of December 7.30pm, at the Tararua
Tramping Club Hall (4 Moncrieff St).

Set to the sounds of Aotearoa’s finest musicians, Southern Faces includes
spectacular footage of the South Island’s 7 major climbing areas, from
limestone boulders to alpine granite faces. Classic and moderate lines
feature alongside the newest and boldest testpieces, and interviews with
local rock legends provide a historical basis for the contemporary rock
      climbing scene.

Southern Faces is a 90-minute comprehensive film that features all aspects
of rock climbing, from multi-pitch trad lines, to sport routes, to
bouldering. It is about Kiwi climbers in their element, pushing their
personal limits. It allows the climbing community to express itself and
gives non-climbers an insight into the passion that binds these characters
      together.

Tickets are on sale NOW at Mainly Tramping and Bivouac.

Ticket Prices: $15 – Ticket Only or

Er ctually – watch this space – there’s a WTMC slide show booked for Weds 7.30 at the Tararua Hall and it’s Hilary Miller on Stephen’s Island. I’ll contact Mike to clarify any misunderstanding, and will post back!
      Cheers

errr. isn’t the 16th a Thursday night, hopefully Hilary’s presntation won’t spill over into the next night.

having spent 3 nights on Stephens Isl a few years ago I can attest to it being a very special place …

Oh, yes it is: my mistake.

Wednesday 15th December is Hilary’s show at the WT&MC.

Thursday 16th December is the film premiere of Southern Faces.

That all seems to work out very well :-)
Cheers, and sorry for any confusion.
      Jim
