Those of us attempting to take in the Gardens, the Whataroa and various glaciers ending with the Tasman have got a Canterbury mountain radio IB179.

Given the current weather patterns we might be looking for some light relief from any others that may be similarly stymied!

Whatever happens, it should be an adventure.

We are going south to start the 5 Passes from Glenorchy on Friday – no radio but I think we’ll pack the playing cards :-(

Perhaps we’ll spend our tent days plotting to intercept your food drop and steal the treats!

I’m up at Arthurs Pass. The weather is dreadful. Apparently its been a fairly hopeless month weatherwise up here. I hope its not a sign of what is to come.

We’re heading into Bracken Icefield (top of Rakaia River) on 27/12. We will have a JG mountain radio, don’t know number. Fingers crossed for a few fine days!
