Missing tramper in Tauherenikau Valley/Marchant Ridge area 3/1/2012
Wellington LandSAR are currently searching for a missing tramper in the Tauherenikau Valley/Marchant Ridge area. If you have been in the area on the 2nd or 3rd January and have any information on the missing person (details below) please call Police Central Communications on 04 381 2000.

3rd January 2012Teams of Police and Land Search and Rescue (Land SAR volunteers) are currently looking for a missing Whitby man, Vaughn Solomon.
The 40 year old intended to go for a walk on the Puffer Track into the Tauheenikau Valley from the Marchant Road end, Upper Hutt, but did not return home as expected last night (2/1/2012).
Officer in charge of Wellington Police District Search and Rescue Acting Sergeant Anthony Harmer says a team of around 20 Police and Land SAR volunteers are involved in the operation.
Vaughn Solomon is believed to be fit and able and reasonably familiar with the area.
“We will continue searching in the lower Tararua area but are urging anyone who may have seen Vaughn Solomon yesterday to phone us immediately on (04) 3812000.”
He is described as a male Caucasian, 6 foot 2 inches tall, of medium build with light brown or blonde hair. He is likely to be wearing some army styled clothing and tramping boots.
