Looking for a South Island tramping adventure this New Years?

I am planning a WTMC Medium Fit six day tramp in the Mokihinui River Catchment. This is an area just outside the south-western border of Kahurangi NP.

You may be aware of the Meridian Energy proposal to build a hydro dam (subsequent lake would be 14km long) on the Mokihinui River. A proposal currently going through the resource consent process. Below link may be of interest;

Depart Wgtn midday Wednesday 30th December & return on Sunday 10th January.

Upon completion of Mokihinui experience we would replenish supplies and undertake 3-4 day tramp in Nelson Lakes NP etc as we head back to Picton.

Est. cost of $165 members / $180 non members (ferry & road transport only)

Good fitness req’d and ok with tent accommodation for most of Mokihinui Trip.

Group size limited to 5-7 people.
