From Kaimanawa Road end the track is from Sharp Cone on the Umukarikari track over the tops through some bush to the Urchin Track
Well doing some investigating on Urchin Track I found about this new track on: http://tramper.co.nz/?3018
DOC says they have finished cutting the track now – so it’s open for anyone interested!
