      hi there,
I have heard that there is a hut somewhere in the orongorongo river that belongs(or used to belong) to onslow college. apparently the teacher that operated the hut retired and the hut has now been forgotten.
i would really appreciate info concerning its whereabouts.

      Hi Oliver.

I know nothing about this but some quick googling suggests there was an art teacher at least between 1964 and 1968 who took students to some kind of getaway batch. (Mr Coolahan, apparently.) From the page, at least, it’s unclear whether it had anything directly to do with the school or if he just arranged it through someone outside. http://www.onslowcollegereunion.wellington.net.nz/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Profiles/AlastairRoxburgh

You could perhaps try the Orongorongo Club, which describes itself as “of folk that have baches in the bush along the Orongorongo River within Rimutaka Forest Park near Wellington NZ. ” http://orongorongo.wellington.net.nz/ Someone in that group might know or remember something.

      Mike.
