The Club has received a letter from the Department of Conservation advising that the possum control operations in the upper Tauherenikau, Mid-Waiohine and Hector Catchments of the Tararua Forest Park (the operational area) proceeded as planned and was highly successful. Possum numbers were reduced by up to 90%. The Department of Conservation is now confident that all pesicide baits in the operational area are now non toxic and possum carcasses are now sufficiently decomposed that they do not represent a risk to dogs that may scavange on them.
