a fantastic opportunity and a great way to give back to DOC

Mana Island currently needs volunteers for the following weekends to help monitor the yellow crowned parakeet which were recently reintroduced to the island.

This is a *very easy* weekend, and again, a fantastic opportunity to explore Mana Island and to give back to DOC.

Spaces are limited – only about 7 spots for each weekend. Basically you make your way up to Mana on Saturday morning where a DOC boat picks you up and then you come back Sunday afternoon. You bring a sleeping bag and supply your own food – though they have tea and coffee and a fully equiped kitchen including microwave. If you can get a group together you can do a group dinner. Accomodations also include indoor plumbing! and a shower and even a pool table.

Volunteers are needed for the following weekends:

      24/25 July
      7/8 August
      28/29 August
      4/5 September*
      2/3 October*
      6/7 November*
      11/12 December
      8/9 January
      12/13 February
      12/13 March

      * Combined with monitoring the return of the fairy prions – will
involve long, but hopefully rewarding, hours.

For more information, or to book, email Colin Ryder

I just volunteered this past weekend so I may also be able to answer basic questions.

      Cheers,
      Barbara
