Hi,

I’m organising an impromtu Waitangi weekend trip into the Tararuas this weekend.

Friday Feb 5th
Depart platform 9, Wgtn Railway Station at 5:30pm – dinner in Carterton then drive to Holdsworth Rd end. Two hours up the Gentle Annie to Powell Hut for the night.

Saturday
Head south/west along High Ridge and drop down into Waiohine River near Totara Flats Hut – aim to stay at 6 bunker Sayer Hut. Could be a good night for camping under the stars.

Sunday
Return to van (there are a couple of options for this). Should be back in Wgtn mid afternoon (after suitable cafe stop en route)
