Time to build up some carbon credits – the club is running a day trip to Makara Peak this Sunday to plant missing tree species in the regenerating native forest.
Makara Peak MTB Park is run by a bunch of volunteers who focus as much on conservation and regeneration of the park than on mountainbiking. This Sunday we’re planting climax species (that is the ones that grow into big trees like podocarps – rimu, kahikitea, miro etc). Plants, tools and lunch are provided. We will be walking/riding in from 10am Sunday. Its about a 45min walk in from the carpark or a bit shorter from the top of Makara Hill Rd. Meet at the MTB park carpark on Sth Karori Road.
