The Land Rover Tussock Traverse, 27kms is an event that’s been around for a few years, and offers keen off-road / trail runners and walkers one of the most scenic and varied event courses in the country. total sport have recently taken over the management of the Land Rover Tussock Traverse, but the event will continue to support the ongoing work of the Tongariro Natural History Society.

The course cuts across the heart of the World Heritage Tongariro National Park, starting from Tukino Road off the Desert Road and taking in the Rangipo Desert and Waihohonu traverse track before finishing at the Chateau Tongariro in Whakapapa. Last year the event recorded temperatures high in to the 30’s so this is one event that will test the camel in you! In order to preserve this fragile and unique environment, the event entrants are limited to only 300, so you’ll want to get your entry in early!
