Yes they are Spencer, it’s a shame i can only see them from my office in Wellington and not up close and personal! By the time i get into the hills next weekend it will inevitably be wet and miserable!

They were quite windy though. It’d have to happen that a week of strong wind finally eases up on a Monday.

There were heaps of people in the Tararuas over the weekend given the conditions, though. Blue Range Hut had 11 people and a well behaved dog crammed in on Friday night (nobody was going to kick out the dog with that wind), it had something similar on Saturday night, Cow Creek had about 11 on Saturday night, Arete Forks had 7 on Saturday night. The VUWTC’s attempt to bag all the huts in a weekend had something to do with it.
