      Hi walkers : )

I am one of a team of eight everyday Wellingtonians who have been training hard to achieve an incredible feat of endurance walking 100kms each ? that?s the equivalent of 20 marathons and 2 complete ascents on Mt Cook ? all within 36 hours! I have done a couple of medium level hikes with the Wellington tramping club and thoroughly enjoyed it! Our mission walk takes place April 8th and 9th at Taupo.

      Why are we doing it?

We have put in months of training and preparation along with our dedicated backup crew. The money we raise from the Trailwalk will help Oxfam continue their invaluable work. Peter Guiney, Team leader says ?We are helping Oxfam to assist not only with long term sustainable development, ‘a hand up not a hand out’, but also to make a difference in regions now affected by natural disasters including the Kashmiri earthquake and the devastating mudslides in the Philippines?.

We are aiming to raise $8000 enough money to provide clean drinking water for 4000 people. This is an achievable goal that will undoubtedly save lives by preventing the spread of dysentery, typhoid and cholera. The more money we raise, the more can be done to help those most in need and build new hope for the future. We would greatly appreciate any support you can give the two teams. Help make all our dreams a reality.
