I’m looking to do a transalpine trip down south at Easter. The options include:

Karangarua Valley – Douglas Pass – Landsborough – Zora Canyon – Mahitahi (Stunning scenery, but gruelling travel in the upper Mahitahi)

Waimakariri – Harman Pass – Whitehorn Pass – Browning Pass – Hall Col – Farquarson Saddle – Griffiths Saddle – Hokitika Saddle – Mungo River – Toaroha River

Frances – Garden of Eden Ice Plateau – Garden of Allah Ice Plateau – Lambert Col – McCoy Col – out (transport could be an issue)

Ivory Lake (a few different routes in and out)

Ohau Forests/Haast area (a number of different routes – drier eastern valleys)

Anyone who is interested should get in touch. You’ll need to be reasonably fit and experienced. AIC level of skills.

Most of the trips will have rugged west coast travel. All of the trips will have some challenging sections. They will need a full week + one day’s travel either side.

      Cheers

      Geoff
