Posted on behalf of the friends of Baring head…

The next Baring head Planting Days are being held on 22 and 23 June 2013

Meet at the main Baring Head Bridge Carpark at 10 am. The planting will be around the Khyber Pass area (between the main carpark and the beach carpark, beside Coast Road), so if you arrive later than 10am and there is no activity at the main carpark, drive down Coast Road further to the planting area.

We will be there until we have around 600 plants in the ground each day, so probably 2-4 hours depending on how many volunteers are available. So we’ll need any help you can give. Please do not feel obliged to stay the full day — any help at all will be great.

Please bring warm wet weather clothes as the weather down there can be quite unpredictable. Also bring something to eat and drink to keep your energy levels up (a hot thermos might be a goer). If you have a favourite digging tool (suitable for fairly stony ground), feel free to bring it along, but we will have lots of tools available.

The planting will be deferred if the weather is really stormy, but a little bit of wind and rain won’t put us off (plants love the wet and wind is inevitable). If in doubt ring Mark (027 467 3076) or Paula (021 101 4824) on the day between 8 am and 9:30 am. Note that the Wairarapa forecast is generally more reliable than the Wainuiomata or Wellington forecasts. If we defer to the following weekend, we’ll send out a notice with the new days and times.

Further details are available at the Baring Head website
