      Hola

Just a quick note to say Hi to everyone back in New Zealand.

Anita Sua, Barbara Keenan and Lynda Bushe met in Cancun 2 weeks ago and since we have been exploring the Southern Mexico states including the Pyramids of Chichen Itza, Palenque and the cool atmosphere of San Cristobal del las Casas.

We travelled to Guatemala and enjoyed the coolness of the Highlands and chill out in the Hippy town of Panajachel before enjoying the Mayan market at Chichicastenango and then travelling to Antigua just out of Guatemala City. Surprisingly, the main attraction in Antigua was the chance to climb the Active Volcano where the hardened lava crackled worryingly under your feet and English tourists set their walking sticks on Fire by dipping them in the lava. I am not sure Health & Safety in any other country would allow this.

Now in Sunny Belize (well it is at the moment) we we went tubing yesterday down the nearest River here in San Ignacio on the BelizeGautemala border, Today we went Canoeing in a cool cave with stalacmites and stalactites and heard the Mayan legends and ducked the Stalactites hanging down.

We are supposed to go to Caye Caulker tomorrow in Northern Belize but this is going to be cancelled as the Category 5 Hurricane will be hitting it tomorrow or the next. Seems like we are going to stay here for a few extra days and we are hoping to still get to Playa del Carmen (Mexico) on Wednesday. This would be cleaning up after the Hurricane and probably raining but at least near the sea which we haven’t seen for weeks. Unfortunately this means no scuba diving in Caye Caulker which is known as second only to the Great Barrier.

Hope Wellington weather is not playing up too much and the tramping is good for everyone getting out. After our lazy holiday we are talking about the next tramp we will have to go on to recover from all the Pina Coladas.

It is tough out here. Honest.
