Hi everyone.
For anyone who doesn’t already know, the road to Otaki Forks is closed again due to another quite significant slip. There’s a reasonable amount of space for parking cars on the side of the road near the slip, and it’s about 2 km from the end, so depending on how fast you walk, it’s roughly a 30 minutes to the picnic area after clambering over it.
There was a Helicopter buzzing around taking a look at it things when I walked out about 6pm this evening, and I think it dropped something off. This might mean that there are plans to clear it again quite soon, but I’m only speculating. If you’re intending to take a vehicle there in the next week or two, it may be worth checking up on the state of the road.
