      Hi all

I am in Marlborough in April for a weekend and was thinking of tubing a section of the Pelorous River.

Has anyone that has done this before offer any advice/tips on where I should put in and exit the river? Can I drive to the put in and exit spots? How does the Pelorus compare to the Hutt Gorge in terms of tube-ability?

      All thoughts most appreicated.

      Regards

      Dean

      Dean,

I haven’t done the trip before but am aware that you normally start at Hackett Forks (south of Nelson) and tramp for a full day, then 2 days tubing through to Pelorous bridge.

There are several club members that have done the trip and enjoyed it. Ask around on a Wednesday evening and there’s likely to be someone who can fill in the details.

Give me a call if you still need more information. I have done the tube trip many times. Also am now a Nelson local and could help you with transport.
