We are planning a bit of a trundle for the week prior to Easter (prob 14 or 15th of March) returning to Wgtn on 21st (Easter Monday).

We are looking for company, 1 or 2 people, trip grade approx medium, with basic Alpine skills.

We will have a car-you could hitch a ride down on the ferry with Simon on the 18th if you like (but you will have to occupy yourself over the weekend as we have a wedding/family commitments)

We are looking at going into Ohau area… Ahuriri valley/South Temple/Maitland, maybe going over the tops from one valley into another.

An alternate trip plan could be Arthur’s pass-Tarn Col or 3 passes.

Our trip will depend on the weather. We may combine a few shorter trips.

Hi there,

Now we have a planned route: Ahuriri-up Watson Stream, over to South Temple, up to the head of the valley, over the pass into the top of the Ahuriri again-planning for 4-5 days. Should be pretty awesome.

If we have time/good weather, we might do a side trip to canyon creek to have a look at Mt Barth or pop up to Mt Cook to have a look at Mueller Tarns/hut. Bad weather option will be Nelson Lakes or Kahurangi… have car, will travel …to where the weather is most benign!
